How can I prevent tonsillitis?
Hi all.
I have had tonsillitis 3 times in two months, plus colds and sore thraots and unny nose etc… I have just started tehcing and I am sure I am getting it from the kids, which is ac occupational hazzard i suppose. But how can I prevent these infections particularly tonsillitis becuase it really hurts like a b****!

BTW i use an antibac Hand Gel regularly and have just started using oraldene twice a day, could/should I do more?
the tonsils are part of the lymphatic system and are responsible collecting the pollutants in the air that can be breathed in through the mouth, if there is a respiratory virus, common cold virus etc.. and you are infected these can collect on and inflame the tonsils aka tonsillitis it sounds as though you’ve been unfortunate to be attacked by several viruses one after the other
before thinking of surgery think about if tonsillitis has affected you significantly over your life if this is an isolated case then surgery should be avoided as the tonsils are doing their job
my sister had constant nose bleeds, sore throats, cold sores and ear infections she had her nose corturised (the vessels sealed by heat) about 6 times and other treatments but she was still suffering so she had her tonsils out when she about 9 years old and it helped her it was discovered that a virus had got in to her tonsils and was not killed off it laid dormant and kept her immune system low it also caused her immune system to turn against her on her nasal passages hence the nose bleeds she is fully healthy now we are both 24 (as we are twins)
the antibacterial preventions will help but if the infections is viral antibacterial will do nothing to help you
for an oral flush you could try warm water and table salt (not lo salt) make sure it is pure sodium chloride (common salt) salt is the most basic and effective antibacterial for topic applications simply gargle about 250ml ( a tall glass) in little gulps for about a week and it will dramatically affect your throat feels
